Elephant Nose

Hi again everone! I just recently notices a nice little elephant nose at a pet store, and immediately thought to myself that it would be a nice addition to my community tank. I need any info I can get on this fish, such as what it eats, how aggressive it is, how big it gets, etc.
I have a 29-gallon tank that has no live plants, 7 guppies, 4 platys, 1 pleco, 2 corys, 1 albino algae-eater, 4 rummy noses, and 3 small preacok (not sure of the spelling) rainbowfish. Please help! Thanks.

I would not advise in getting it. You are well over stocked already.

Sabi is right, and elephant noses get 10 inches to 1 foot in length.

These fish are extremely smart they are fantastic tank jumpers reason why they jump is because they know that they are in a confined space but unfortunately do not know that outside that space isnt water

I have a beautiful 7" Elephant-nose.

They need really good hiding spots and large ones at that for this fish will get up to about 9" and are very timid. They are not aggressive towards other species but I've noticed they do tend to get protective of their hide-out. This fish I believe would have a hard time doing any real damage to another fish because of the anatomy of it's mouth. Mine seems to use the mass of his body to chase off any invaders of his space. I enjoy the fish immensely what little I see of him. They tend to be more nocturnal but, I've read that with time this fish will become incredibly tame and come to greet it's owner at feeding time. I also read that you should only have one of these guys in your tank. They are very sensitive to water quality changes so make sure you maintain a clean mature tank. To answer your question Bassman415 I would not add one to your current tank on account of space. You're too close to being over-stocked to add really anymore fish much less one of this size.
