Florida Flag Fish

Does anyone have a Florida Flag Fish... (Jordanella floridae )?

they are described as :

"A most efficient weapon against HAIR ALGAE in your aquarium. They will even devour hair algae forms that Siamese Algae Eaters (SAEs) won't touch. Its been noted recently that several forms of Bush Algae will also fall before a FFF onslaught. The Florida Flag Fish (FFF) also makes short work of Lemna minor and Wolffiia arrihza; two forms of Duck weed. Duckweed is a really annoying surface plant that spreads rapidly and blocks light to your aquarium plants.

This is a tough little fish that lives and prospers under some truly WIDE water conditions from the very soft, acidic waters of a discus tank, to very hard waters in an African Cichlid tank, to even Brackish water. It is very resistant to disease, temperature changes, pH swings and to water change stress.

FFF grow not much bigger than 2"; and are shoaling fish.. They breed VERY easily. "

I have had them in the past and they are as advertised.

Last time I saw them, all they had was males, so I passed getting them.

This upcoming year we will have some here, even if I have to buy them online.

WOW... okay, what are you trying to do over there!! my Spring list is getting bigger, and bigger!

I have a stump that I have some fuzz algae on. I kinda like it... reminds me of a grass patch... I love how it flows in the water current... but aside of that, before it gets outta control I was looking for a AE that would eat the stuff and I came across a site that recommended FFF.

Now, I have to see if I can actually get them.

Those are neat fish. I googled them and they came up brackish. My bf's is going brackish when our IT Datnoids, Ruby Scats and Archer fish get bigger. I may bug him to find me some too.

Do you think a BNP will eat it? Although, the area on the stump that its growing on is like only 4 or 5 inches from the surface...?

Allie - the article I read said that they tolerate a wide range of water parameters from brackish to very soft... which is totally cool! I gotta see if I can get them...

Our BNP do an awesome job on our algae & wood. From top to bottom so I cannot see why yours wouldn't too.

Good luck. It seems our "brackish fish" can be kept in fresh water but thrive in the brackish conditions. I would like to see the difference in their behavior/coloring etc...
I just found this site with a list of brackish fish...some are very cool

I've had them before (in a FW tank) and they are indeed cool looking fish. I was hoping to have a breed of them unfortunately, I lost all 3 of them after more than a year.

That's a real sad thing, to lose them like that.
