what is going on with my alges eater?

I was watching my fish today and my algea eater has been trying to suck on my 12 inch pucas side. This is upsetting my pacus and they are trashing the tank trying to stay away from the sucker. Why is "SUCKY" trying to suck on the twins

What type of algae eater is it? If it is a chinese algae eater, then it will do that by nature.

Not only CAE's. some plecos are known to do it too.
What do you feed him? It could be that he's not getting enough nutrients.

Re: what is going on with my alges eater?????

He is either not getting enough food, or doesn't have enough hidey holes. Chinese algae eaters have VORACIOUS appetites. one cae can eat an entire cucumber in one night. I have two in my outdoor pond(approx 150 gal) with a pleco and they strip any trace of moss plus polish off 20-30 algae wafers every night...and they still act like they are hungry. my cae's are about 4 inches long and my pleco is 11 inches long. try feeding a few more algae wafers in the evening and maybe put a cave or two in for him to hide in...

I really don't know what type of algea eater i have...just a cheap one from WalMart. I feed the paucs the pond fodd that look like small sticks and everytime i try to feed the algea eater the waffers...the pacus take them from him. So by the end of this month the pacus are leaving...one is gone and the other two hopefully will be gone as well.

Maybe "SUCKY" will be a better fish without his tankmates.

yea, it sounds like the appetites of the Pacus has your pleco hungry.
