Kordon 100% Organic Ich Attack

http://www.novalek.com/kordon/ich_attack/index.htm

I can only describe my experience with this so far, so here goes.

Had a stable tank (that survived a previous bout of ICH with no losses) for the last few months, added a couple new fish without quarantining them, and then the ich appeared again. Most of the fish who had ich previously appeared pretty resistant to it. For the previous bout, I had simply raised the temp to 86 degrees and added salt.

This time, I was concerned about adding salt due to my plants. Most medications would also probably kill plants, and certainly kill my crayfish. The outbreak was worse than my first one too, so I wanted to buy something.

I found Kordon Ich Attack, and read about it being herbal derived and safe for use in all water against a variety of protozoan infections.

From the product site:
Quote:
SPECIFICATIONS
Kordon Ich-Attack contains 5% active ingredients consisting of five natural organic herbals, based on their containing patented naphthoquinones. Totally free of chemicals (such as formalin and malachite) and all heavy metals, including zinc and copper. Does not affect pH of the water, or its oxygen content. Compatible with all Kordon water conditioners (NovAquas, Amquels, Fish Protector, PolyAqua, EZ4U tablets, betta Tabs, goldfish Tabs, ZymBac, VitaTrace, PhosRid).

MODE OF ACTION
The therapeutic action of Ich-Attack on protozoan and other infections is due to its binding with cytoplasmic structures within the cell of the infecting organisms.
I began to dose thi in addition to raising my temperature. I have been dosing for about 4 days, and within the first two I noticed a dramatic decrease in visible cysts. At this point I see no cysts on any fish. I will continue the heat and dosage for a full week to be safe.

The biggest help, is that other than giving my water a brownish tint, there have been no side effects. The crayfish are doing well, the scaleless catfish is fine, and the plants all appear normal. No fish gasping occurred. I cant say it will work for you, but its worked well for me.

I've used Ich Attach with great success. You must remember, though, that the visible cysts on your fish will fall off after they reach maturity, with or without meds. They are only killed in their free swimming stage, so even though your fish look clean, the parasite is still viable in your tank for up to 72 hours. This is when the meds will kill them, so yes, you are correct that you must continue treatment. I treat for 5 days after I see the last cyst on any fish.

Thanks for the reviews! I bought some Ich Attack previously, but was kind of skeptical about it... Hopefully I won't need it, but maybe I'll give it a try next time.

I too had great success with this product. My tank is heavily planted with kuhli and clown loaches, shrimp and corys. Can't dose with salt and raise temp because of plants and reg meds would have harmed/killed my babies. Very happy to have found this as it erradicated ICH. I also cannot stress how important it is to quarantine new fish for at least 2 weeks if not longer.
