Honey Sunset has no tail. **pics added**

I've had this Honey Sunset Dwarf Gourami since Dec I believe and he's always been a friendly fish. I do water changes every 7-10 days and the test results from last week were all the same as in my info. My stocking info is also correct. I feed Omega flakes.

I must admit I didn't do a very good checking of my fish the past couple weeks do to personal issues but this morning I notice that his poor tail is almost a nub. I looked up a picture I took a few weeks ago and sure enough he had a full tail. The only thing that has changed is that I assume the corys are laying eggs all over the tank but I don't see how that would affect the Honey. It's only the tail that seems the issue, the rest of him looks fine.

He is still eating but don't seem very active anymore. None of the other fish show any signs of issues. I did some researching and the obvious sign is fin rot. Thou, I don't know what is the cause, either bacteria or if the Danios have finally gotten to be annoying for him. I've never seen them nip the Honey.

I've read that I can do daily water changes with Prime to help increase the slime coat and I've read that I should use meds. I don't have a QT so anything I have to do will have to involve all the fish.

I can take a picture after work.

aww poor thing....I woult qt him and make sure he has prestine water, daily partial changes, with some vita chem, fish protector, and some extra stress coat+ ...soak all his food in fresh garlic juice to help his immune system......i wold say your danios are the culprits and it might be time for a longer tank for him than a tall one...that way he doesnt have to struggle to get to the top of the tank...in the meantime, a breeders net is going to help him allot!
good luck!

Can you post a clear pic? Could be finrot.....danios can be nippy....that can start finrot. Daily water changes with Stress Coat is the best thing. You don't want to medicate the tank because all your other fish are fine and most meds will kill your beneficial bacteria. Never medicate the main tank unless it's absolutley necessary.

A cheap quaratine tank can be a regular ol' rubbermaid tub, filter, heater and an airstone. That's all you need.

Can I use Prime or do I need to get Stress Coat?

I plan on stopping at the store on the way home and getting some chopped garlic like in the sticky.

get a small bottle of stress coat+ .the aloe will do him wonders...and you can get a huge bottle of fresh garlic for like $3 that will last forever.....heres a pic to see an example...i find mine in the fresh veggie area garlic for my fin babies.jpg but you can even get a really small jar for less

Ok, one of the LFS has a bottle of the API stress coat+ in stock so I'll swing by there after work too. Do I just follow the instructions on the bottle for my size tank and how often should I use it?

Here is a pic that was taken Jan 26 and some I just took. He is staying back so it's hard to get a good picture.

Oh, and the store only had garlic in water and P... something acid. I didn't think it would be good so I didn't get it. I'll have to try another store.

Oh my goodness, poor thing. Looks like his fins as well are short? Deff looks like finrot.

Deff need daily water changes, stress coat (just follow the directions on the bottle) and vitachem. Vitachem is good for fin regeneration.

Just wanted to say that my poor little king has moved on today. He showed some life this past week but never acted like himself. I didn't think it would come to this so I'm in a bit of shock right now so I'm gonna leave it at this.
