what to do if your not sure

I suspect my bolivian ram had camallus worms but not 100% sure. The other fish picked on her and once I removed her to another tank she did not make it.

Since I am not sure if that is what she had and the other fish are showing no signs or symptoms, should I treat the tank with meds for it

Should I watch for symptoms first? I would hate to treat a whole tank of healthy fish for nothing?

Thanks much

Large water change is the first thing I do when I suspect something might be wrong.

camallanus worms are super super contagious.....and very hard to kill...usually every fish will come down with it except a rare few.....other members that had it in the past, had to bleach all her tanks......but, be 110%sure thats what it was ...id only ever medicate if I was 110 % sure of any illness....so its hard to say red....especially with camallanus
have you seen this thread My experience with Camallanus worms

I saw the threads and have done tons of reading, still not 100% sure. I got the rams at the end of November and everyone seemed fine.

After she started hiding I got concerned. Someone suggested the c worms and I felt it was a possibility but not sure as she was still eating and everything.

Once I removed her I did a large water change with aggressive gravel vacuum.

I would just hate to treat with such strong meds if its not needed. So confused about this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

camallanus worms are just awful.....if it were med red, id hold off.....as you red from the other thread, it moves fast ...and the signs are significant...a suggestion always puts something in our heads .......certainly only YOU can make these tough decisions ...good luck!

I think that since I received the meds from Charles that were recommended in the other thread, I will hold off until I at least see a symptom or slight sign.

I have 2 other tanks and I use the same gravel vacuum thingy and see nothing in the other tanks either.

I will watch closely for now......................

I hope this is the right thing

After closing watching now it looks like the other rams has it too. We are expecting another blizzard tomorrow so it looks like I will empty the tank and treat it with Levamisole HCI.

Does anyone know if the snail will be ok? Should I move him, will he catch it or transfer it to another tank
