Guppy Fin Rot maybe??

Hello all. I've been watching my Yellow male guppy lately and hes had a bit of orange showing up on his Dorsal fin? (thats the one on the back right?) Today when i looked more closely at him it seems like the entire dorsal fin is orange and the tail fin is starting to specks of orange on it as well, and the fin itself looks gross. not from far but close up it doesnt look right. Is this fin rot? if so how do I treat it? what could be the cause? If not what could it be and how do I treat it?

Hello!

Yes, the dorsal is on the back. The signs of finrot are the fin edges turn white, fray, base of fins enflamed and entire fin may rot away. A secondary infection may follow, looks like white cottony growth. If you can get a good clear pic and post that would be helpful.

Usually the common cause of finrot is poor water quality or fin nipping is going on. The best thing to do is make sure your water readings are ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrAtes less then 10. I say 10 because it's healthier then 20. Then if your tank is overstocked, are fish compatible, not overfeeding, feeding no outdated foods or stale, feeding a variety of foods to get nutrition ect. Doing daily partial water changes to keep water clean with Stress Coat would be the best thing to do.

my guppy also has orange showing up on back tail. At first I thought it was a nice color, as it spread to 1/3 of the tail quickly. It has now been about 2 months and I just noticed that the fins are missing in the orange area and on the body where the tail connects looks like light orange and not smooth. It just doesnt look right. Do you know what this is?
