My smaller Discus appears to have some sort of infection. When I bought him one of his eyes was missing the cap to it (I didn't notice til he was home), and he appears to be blind in it, or not see very well out of it. He's never had a problem with it except that he can't seem to see out of it, I've had him about 3 months.

I didn't notice it last night when I fed them all, but today, when I got home from work I noticed that his bad eye has some kind of raised bump on it, that is brown with a white tip.

=/ I don't know what it is, I can't find anything as to what it might be, I figure its some kind of infection, I snapped two photos so you can see what it looks like:

Hope these photos are good enough, this is the eye thats missing its cap, he's still lively and has his usual good appetite, but it worries me.

What should I do? and what is it??!!

ammonia: 0
pH: 7.4
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 10
Temp: 83 F

Thanks.

By the way, I haven't changed the tank or added anything to it in 3 weeks.

Missing the cap? What do you mean? The eye looks pretty normal to me, minus the bump at the bottom. Cap as in contact lens like?

What is your cleaning schedule like? What are you feeding? What other fish are in the tank? Any other similar bumps on other fish? Is this fish still eating, fins erect, and swimming normally?

You know how the Discus have convex shaped eyes, as in, when you look at them straight on you can see their eyes very slightly.

Well, that part is missing, so if you were to look straight at him, his one eye is convex, and his one is completely flat, like its been ripped off.

I do a 25% water change once a week, they get a varied diet of both vegetable matter and meat, in flaked, frozen, and freeze dried form, along with some sinking pellets.

Nobody else appears to have this bump, only him. I have another Discus in there, some neon tetras, corys, rainbow fish, swordtails, and a Raphael Cat.

He still eats like he always has, he swims and acts normally, he isn't acting like anything is wrong, but I'm just worried, I have no idea what it is. =/

Hmm, i'm almost stumped. I've seen similar cases before in pimple-like object appearing on fish, which was attributed to sucker mouthed fish feeding off of their slime coats but this can't be the case in your tank.

It could just be a place the fish bumped somewhere in the tank, especially missing that cap.

Monitor it closely. Any changes in normal habits like eating, swimming, etc then i'd be worried. If it grows I might be worried too. I'd just keep an eye on it for now.

Josh I am moving your post to a thread of it's own. This will help you to get more responses, a proper welcome to the site and prevent hi-jacking someone elses thread.
Discus Help Please
The above is the link to your new thread. It's under "Cichlids/Discus" section of the forum. Your fish really isn't suffering a disease and I think you'll get more responses with it in the Discus section.
Thanks!
Ken
