help with identifying water bugs

hi i have just had to restock my tant because a fuse popped in my house then causing them to have no warm water for a few days all died apart from a peppered corydora. but thats not the problem

i brought two angels from the petstore i didnt relise but the must have had bugs on the water( look like yellow bugs with heaps of legs smaller than 1mm) they have bread out of control flotting ontop of the water surface and hopping around they also sit on the side of the tank out the water(light enough that if you try to submerge them they wont). the babies look like dust particals floting ontop of the water....

i need an easier way of getting rid of them so far i have been scooping them out with a cup but on account of them being so small i always miss some which isnt helping...

does anyone know what they are, i have also seen some wee white worms which may be related.

the bugs so far have not been hurting or cause determental effects to the fish but they are a bit yuck and i dont want them to spread to another tank.

please can anyone help, does anyone know what they are or how to kill them.
i did kill a few with a lighter but didnt want to do that too much just incase it effects the water.

help please, any ideas

well my fish eat the white worms so i dont think they are a problem just thought they might have been the same species just lava and pupa stages.

thats for the help anyway

the bugs might just be a new zealand type species
but dont know.

Misty, Sorry to hear of your tank troubles but thank you for posting because I never heard of this type of issue and now I'm a bit more educated for reading Ken's link.
Thank you Ken

Hiya, I had a very similar issue to this in July of this year, I'll give you a link to my thread and you can have a read through. We may have a problem.

And: Argulus Photo/Microscope image.

I unfortunatly had to de construct my tank as it wa breaking already. I'd either return the two angels for now and maybe allow a friend to houe the cory. I stripped the tank, washed it with a pressure hose and cleaned allll of the gravel and decorations. I then refilled the tank and added Tetra Safe Start, that's unfortunatly the way I had to do it.

If you don't want to go all out extreme like I unfortunaly did, then I'd maybe feed tiny, tiny little pinches of food once a day, and up the filtration.

Good luck!

thanks for you help but it does not sound like of those things the worms might be but the fish soon eat and seems under control

the lice looking things dont really crawl they more hop exactly like a grasshopper except across the water. the big ones(not even 1mm) are clearly yellow in colour, the smaller ones about the size of a dust particaland look grey to black.. they do not go below the water surface.

please help this annoying but.
thats for all you guys help so far(could only quote one)
