My boyfriend's brother (as a joke I guess) spat into my fish tank!!! We got into a huge fight about it and they both finally left meanwhile I'm wondering ... is that going to hurt my fish. What can I do?

Yeah, except I just did a water change. That's what gave John the chance to spit in it in the first place. The lid was off.

Except, I have a sick fish. (I purchased her before the nitrogen cycle was over. I didn't know any better then.) I think she'll be okay. She's not acting any different. (She hides durring most of the day because of cycle stress). Of course if she dies tomorrow I'll know what pushed her over.

Yes, very gross Mommybaby. He's a smoker too, though I don't know if that means there is now nicotine floating in my tank.

Hello Jackie. Sorry to hear about that. Seems someone has some growing up to do along with learning the meaning of respecting someone's property. I would have been soooooooo upset as you obviously were. I won't go into detail as to what I would have done. Let's just say it wouldn't have been pretty
I think your fish will be fine. Too, I hope you get the apology that you and your fish deserve.
Stunts like this really make me angry. There is "no" excuse for this type of behavior. Ok, my rant is over lol

He never apologised about it either. Though now my boyfriend is finally taking my side and is admitting that it was a rude thing for his brother to to do! (Though he was laughing like a hyena when John first did it!)

spit is basically water there is no know bacteria that can be passed on to fish or vice versa unless he had some parasites poision or something in his spit your fine

That's nasty...Btw how long have you been with your boyfriend? Signs like "(Though he was laughing like a hyena when John first did it!)" Usually gives a hint how he will be in the future. No threat given, just a suggestion. Anyways that was very rude of him and I agree with Fishies-for-me, but I would've shoved something else to bear more pain. I can't believe he's old enough to smoke but not old enough to think...but hey people do make mistakes so forgive and forget. Was it a spit loogie? if so use the net to scoop it out then wash your net with really hot water for a minute or so. disgusting!

Well ...I have noticed we have been arguing more then usual the last couple of months. But that's the subject of another post for another forum. The good news is Molly seems not to have been affected by it, just like you guys said. I don't think he did a 'loogie' but by the time it hit the water I was so enraged I didn't have time to examine the evidence so to speak.
