Used coppersafe to cure ich...

I waited about a week after I treated them for the last time to try and put the plants back in. One of the plants was dead by morning. My question is how can I get the copper out of the water? Will it dissipate on its own? And I will not use coppersafe in any of my tanks again. Does someone have an ICH treatment they use that works well?

welcome to fishlore mikka!

running fresh new carbon should help remove the copper...change it out every 3 weeks as the carbon absorbs and puts it back in the tank after 3-4 weeks because its fully absorbed then....

as far as ich treatments, finding out why you have ich is the easiest way to prevent it......sounds like your 10g is severely overstocked and not enough room for the fish you have in there...thats a major cause of ich ....to treat it next time, you can turn up your temps to 84 for 2 weeks..it will kill off the ich cycle...do 2 gravel vacs each week to get up any ich spores that will fall off the fish..add an extra air stone as warmer temps have less oxygen.....good luck!

Welcome to FishLore
You should be able to use carbon in your filter and water changes to remove the copper.
For Ich, you can slowly increase the temp to 84F, leave it there for at least 2 weeks.
Increase aeration to make up for less oxygen in the warmer water.
Do frequent water changes and be sure to thoroughly vacuum your gravel to pick up any ich spores.

Good luck.

Thank you for welcoming me! I have 5 fish plus my pleco in a 10 gal. I am getting ready to do a water change now. How many water changes do you think that I should do before I put my plants back in? I am doing to do about 5 gal. will that be enough to put the plants in?

Copper safe stays in the tank for up to a month after treating unless removed with water changes and carbon....5 gallons will not remove all of the coppersafe from a 10 gallon tank. You will need to completely change the water to remove all of the coppersafe. ( Not all at once) . Try doing 3 gallon changes every day for a week and then it should be mostly gone.
