help pelco troubles

i have a 29 gallon Tank with a 15year old Gold fish and a pelco that i've had for 5 years and watched grow.

the pelco is sick. it looks like ick or fin rot, there are sores the belly of his body and on his fins. the only part that i have never seen before is hes stiff. his whole front end is stiff and ridged, he wont/cant move, hes still breathing and his tail can move and his back fins but the front fins wont.

the 29 gallon tank has good pH and all good readings on everything else.

i have moved the pelco to his own 2.2 gallon recovery tank and put the dorrect dosage of Maracyn Plus antibacteria,

can anyone explain the stiffness of the body to me?

Hello Ugirl and Welcome to Fish Lore. So sorry to hear that your Pleco isn't feeling well. Hopefully one of our members will help you out that have had these same issues. Wow 15 year old goldfish! Great!
Wishing you and your fish the best!

I have just dealt with similar problems in one of my tanks & the plec was the worst affected of the whole tank stock. It turned out to be the water board flushing the supply pipes with whatever poison it is they use. Perhaps you have encountered the same problem. I ended up having to transfer all of my fish out of the tank, sterilize everything & replace the wood in the tank just in case the poison had soaked into it. The plec came good after he had been transfered to another of my tanks that hadn't had that weeks water change. It only took him a day or two to get back to full health.
If it turns out to be poison in the water suply make sure you run your taps for a few minutes before using the water in any of your tanks. You shold be able to find out if the water board has been doing any work or flushing the pipes in your area by checking their maintainance history on thier website.

What are your readings for the tank? (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)
Do you have any pics of the sores on the pleco?

i have started using the Maracyn product for fin and tail rot and have seen increadable improvement, he is now moving more and the sores are starting to slowly disappear and heal as soon as all the sores clear up i plan on moving him back into the 29 gallon tank with the gold fish
