strange disease

hi guys i was tlking to a mate of mine and he said that he was losing fish , a combination fo white spot and what he dsicribed as fish shedding there skin it reminded him of a snake shedding its skin so just wondering if anyone has heard of this kind of thing ..

it could be a number of things...ammonia can cause major skin irritation and peeling...white spot (ICH) can eat away at a fish if not treated....as well as high nitrates can cause skin infections...being nipped at and not healing up can cause that..so im sure there is many more but without a background on his tank, its hard to say ...

i asked about the readings and said everything was fine , no new fish were added . i suggested that maybe the white spot had lead to some other kind of disease . the tank is running about 2 years now , thnks for the input ..

seems allot of people say the readings are "fine" ..sometimes they even say that before you suggest their water might be an issue seen it happen many times....tank can be running 10 years but if theres a problem with the way the fish are as you described, somethings not right...those issues dont appear out of no where especially if no new fish were added (which was going to be my next thing to suggest)
