bleeding sore

my paradise gourami is sick i noticed a couple days ago that he had a bit of a tattered fin and now his colour is really really faded and where it was tattered its not moved on to being a sore on the body that is actually bleeding.

ive moved him to the hospital tank. fresh water, stress coat, garlic, vitachem.

what is it? and what should i do? is this a bacterial infection?

I wish I could help you out. Do you have any more details on his symptoms? Right now it sounds like an infection of some sort (likely bacterial) is it an open wound? and ulcer?
I don't have much experience with disease diagnosis but with more info hopefully someone who does can step in.

Right now if you go with the idea of bacterial infection the "general" treatment is frequent water changes and antibiotics. One thing you can try is putting him in an unheated tank. Paradise fish (gourmis) are naturally a subtropical species so cooler water won't hurt him and might slow down the bacterial growth. It's an idea not sure if it'll help or not.

It applies to all labyrinth fish. Gourami's also have to get to the top to breath air.
