HELP! blood stains!

you cant see it that well on the pics, but my female phoebe has some weird blood-like stains on her entire body. She is still active, so i dont know what it could be

Is it my imagination or does it look like she's lost a little weight?

she does seem smaller... though in the before pic she was a few hours before she gave birth...
she has been this size ever since she gave birth to the babies

thanks brian...

I have an idea. Most problems unless they're a parasite can be fixed with pristine water conditions, garlic juice, and stress coat.

What if you quarantine her, really stay on top of your water conditions, give her some garlic juice to boost her immune system, and add some stress coat to her water to see if there are any changes? That would help you move proactively to help her while we try to get this figured out.

I can't really see what's going on, but the usual reason for burst capillaries (which would result in a "blood stained" look) is ammonia poisoning.

but my ammonia has been at 0 the whole time

could she be flashing? i havent seen her do it, but isnt it a possibility from scratching against things

Hmm... I don't think it could be a problem from her giving birth to her babies. I can't be a problem with burst capillaries since you said your ammonia reading has been 0 the whole time. At this point, just watch out for her water parameters and for odd behaviors. Keep us posted!

Thanks devon. she is so odd! she still acts the same (as in active) and the blood is just confusing! i hope she makes it... what do you think about flashing, is it a possibility
I havent seen ANY of them do it, but i dont want to draw any conlcusions...

Best wishes for her Tony. Wish I had an answer. My first guess would have been septicemia as well but with no readings of ammonia that would not be the answer. Keep us updated.

Hmmmm, have you tried a pea? Maybe she's constipated. I don't think that's the cause of the blood stains, but it might make her feel better if she could poo.

Tony this really has me puzzled. Is this a young fish or could she possibly be developing some new color? I would definitely try to feed her a pea and see if that helps her out just in case. I have had guppies that develop some colors later on so maybe she is just still developing. Yes I am grasping at straws here!!

Yeah, agreed! Try feeding her some peas. I hope she'll be alright too. Let us know of the situation.

when i bought her she was kinda small, ive had female before that were huge compared to her,so my guess she is around 8 months old...
i dont think red is in her strain though, She is mostly grey with some black and her yellow tail... Maybe she isnt even sick!
goodness... she could be recovering from laor, i did see some small fry but since i released the others i cant tell who's new and who's not...

She may not be sick Tony. You're right. Definitely make sure she poos before you put her back in the tank, though. It would be easier to treat constipation while she's in QT than when she's free swimming.

Please, please keep us posted on her progress. Both of you are in our fishy well-wishes.

Then you're good with that, as others have pointed out. I was just giving the most likely reason. Definitely not the only reason.
Hope she does okay... it sounds like she's probably doing fine. Keep an eye on her, but don't worry overly much.

thanks sirdarksol,
she is fine as we speak, she ate a little while ago, still waiting for her too poop, but its a good sign. The colors have me puzzled though... meanwhile since she was the gupp that was trying to eat the fry, and i took her out, i released the fry and they are enjoying the tank right now. I hope she pulls through...

OH! also, she has got some torn fins not sure if that has anything to do with it, no finrot, just torn fins. I am keeping her water clean to make her get better...
