Platy has dropsy and is attacking my guppy!

I'm so stupid! >.> My platy already attacked and killed my other platy and I never would have thought of checking the attacking platy if it has diseases. The platy might have had the disease for 1 and a half month since that was the time he killed my other platy. I was sick today and decided to just look at the aquarium all day and after a few minutes I noticed he had dropsy and was attacking my guppy. The platy only has dropsy and my guppy and corydoras doesn't show any symptom. The dropsy doesn't look very bad right now. He doesn't have a bulging belly but has the pin cone like scales although they are not sticking out as much as the pictures I've seen. He looks like he's bulging a bit on the left though. I have fungus clear tablets but I don't have a spare tank and filter so I can't make a quarantine. I have very little money as well since I'm only a kid.

Water Parameters right now are
0 ammonia
0 nitrite
? nitrate

Sry I don't have a nitrate tester because my test kit doesn't come with nitrate! I did a water change yesterday and I always do it once every week and sometime twice if my tank looks dirty.

Please help quick! My guppy is being attacked right now and I want this to stop. I've had him since he was smaller then a inch.

Please help me or I might have to euthanise my platy because my guppy and corydoras might end up in my back yard if I don't fix this quick.

I added the tablet in because the box said it's safe on fish and plants. Hope it doesn't kill the good bacteria. My platy stopped attacking the guppy know after I put in the medication so I think it's more relaxed now.

I'm sorry you fish isn't doing well. Usually if a fish has dropsy, it would succumb to it pretty quickly, not last 1 1/2 months. Also, I don't think he'd feel well enough to attack other fish.
It would be a good idea to medicate (if you choose) in a quarantine tank. You really don't want to medicate healthy fish.
Also this will save the guppies from being attacked.
I'm wondering why you're using a fungus med when the fish don't have fungus.

Is it possible this fish is just extremely bloated or constipated which could cause a slight raising of the scales but not pine coning.
If this is the case, try feeding him a bit of frozen but thawed shelled pea, see if that helps get things moving.
Have you fasted at all?
Can you post a pic, maybe someone can tell better what's going on.

The fungus clear med said it cures dropsy. I don't have a quarintine sadly and already added the med in. He doesn't look bloated and he poops fine but maybe it isn't dropsy. It's not showing the bulging belly symptom and is acting completely normal. Maybe he just has an aggresive eating habit so when I open the lid it shoos the other fish away.

I tried taking a pic but you couldn't tell if the scales were popping out from it.
Should I do a water change and remove the med?

its NEVER recommended to add any medication without being sure what it is..id change 50% asap and find some prime or amquel+ as the meds are probably going to kill your cycle ...then id go with the pea method lucy recommended...good luck!

I did the water change and added activated carbon. I just made everything worse. Hope they make it.

Try not to beat yourself up. It's really hard when you're just a kid and you're doing everything you think you can to try to make your fishy better. It's really good that you joined FishLore and you obviously care about your fishies and want to make them happy. I hope they make it!!!

I think all the medication is gone now since the blue tint it gave is gone. I gave my platy de-shelled peas but he won't even touch it, even my corydoras won't take a nibble. :-/
Since I couldn't take a photo I drew how he looks like from above. Click the image to open in full size. Sorry I don't sketch very well. The scales are mostly popping on the right side.

He's acting perfectly normal right now.

Hello Chrisson. So sorry to hear that your fish isn't feeling well. If his scales are popping out it could possibly be pine coning. Sadly, I've never heard of a cure for this disease. Keep your water as pristine as possible.
Best of luck,
Ken

I'm sorry about your fishy. It may also help to do a daily water change of 30%. Don't forget to use your water purifier. Good luck.

I've lost three Platy's to Dropsy. They pineconed, but acted fine (eating swimming all that) until the day before they died. Good luck with him.
