Bottom dwellers dead

Something is going on in my 20! I've lost all 4 cories - and they all got blood spots and what looked like plasma bubbles coming off the body. The bubbles were a light amber color, and attached to the body. They were also breathing heavy.
Then this morning my clown pleco was dead with a VERY bloated stomach.
All of the other fish are fine! I don't know what could be going on.
The only weird thing in the tank is that there seems to be a slime like substance on my driftwood.

I'm so sorry Amanda. Just a thought, how deep in the substrate? When was the last time it was stirred up a bit?

I actually thought the same thing so I did a good gravel vacuum. Just the usual stuff was sucked up, but it was a good cleaning. I lost 2 cories & the pleco after the cleaning. That's why I'm so confused, they kept dying no matter what I did.

I was wondering if there were any gas pockets under the deco or gravel. It's sometthing you wouldn't see, and since just the bottom dwellers were effected.
Either way, I hope you figure out what happened.

oooo Amanda, Im so sorry to hear of your loss. I don't know what would be fatal to just bottom dwellers. But one would think it either had to do with location, or something particular to the corys and pleco. What about their food? Could it have spoiled? Just a thought. Its just terrible when things go wrong

Oh no!!!!!!! So hate to hear about your fish loss Amanda. I hope a cause can be determined. As far as the slime on your driftwood, is it white and hairy looking? If so it's just white hair algae and will eventually go away on it's own.
Again, I'm so sorry

Sorry to hear about your bottom dwellers, Amanda. It could be the cause of some harmful gas under the gravel as what Lucy said. I hope everything gets resolved soon. Keep us posted. Best of luck!
