i feel i need to start a new thread to address this concern.

kegan passed last night from the fungus. i had him quarantined last night. he was sharing a 10 gallon with another betta, Arwyn, and two wee corycats.

im concerned about the other betta getting it. can he catch it from the water? should i treat the tank with bettafix or something as a precaution? or is in unnecessary. please help. i can NOT loose Arwyn

did you do a check of the water parimeters? how do you know it was a fungus? how long have you had him? as they age and pass on, they do get a tattered slime coat which can look white and fuzzy and they will clamp up when passing..its almost like a shut down at old age ...was any chemicals added to the tank other than the routine ones? sorry for the questions

parameters were all normal. no amonia or anything. i have had him for 10 days. the last 2 days he was moving around less, yesterday his fins were clamped and the ends had white fuzz on them. nothing added to that tank aside from stress coat. maybe it was old age.... when my first betta i got came with fungus, when he died he was basically cocooned in it. Kegan was on the bottom this morning but looked like he did last night. just the fuzz on the ends of his fins, it hadnt consumed him.

i did a water change and slight gravel vac in the ten gallon anyways. i took the divider out so arwyn can have the whole thing to himself so i stirred up some gunk removing it. he still looks fine. very active, fins look great.
