Ich has taken over...

I did it. I bought fish from Petsmart for the first time and now my 10 gallon, planted tank has been infested with ICH for a week (well, it only appeared on the fish a week ago). Since noticing it I raised the temp slowly to 85 degrees, I've lowered the water slightly so that the over the back filter could aerate the water, and have been using Jungle's Ich Guard daily with a daily 30% water change and gravel vac. Never once have I noticed an improvement. The Ich got noticeably worse in a very short period of time (is this because I raised the temp and thus sped up their life cycle?).
Three out of 8 fish remain: One Honey Gourami (who shows no signs of infestation) and two Cardinal Tetras (the two I got from Petsmart). All of the shrimp are just fine and loving the new found freedom of a near empty tank.
How much longer after all of my fish have died from Ich should I wait until I add more? How long should I keep using the Ich Guard?

Keeping the temp at 85F interrupts the life cycle of ich.
Leave it there for at least 2 weeks. But....you must do thorough gravels vacs to pic up all the spores otherwise once you lower the temp you could have a re-infestation.

Every one of my cardinal tetras (7) have died due to the ich. The honey gourami is absolutely loving the space to himself. He's acting like a different fish - darting around and begging for food! I will continue to do the gravel vacs and the frequent water changes, but how long should I use the medicine for? The gourami still has no signs of ich. Thanks!
