sick cory?

one of my corys suddenly started to become shy last week and was hiding all the time in the cave. today i noticed that he has a clear bubble on his side, barely moving and is breathing heavily ... i have never seen anything like this and none of the other corys are affected
does anyone know what it could be? and how i can save him ?

all my water parameters are in their normal range
ammonia - 0 PPM
nitrite-0 ppm
nitrate- 10ppm
pH - 7.2
and temp 78

Oh wow! I've never seen anything like that either. It almost looks like a blister. I'm at a loss as to treatment but I'm sure some other members will have some more responses. Maybe it will pop on it's own and be ok. Best of luck. Hate to hear it's ill.

It looks like some form of blister, maybe he had something on him, and tried to flick it off, rubbing, and it caused that to form. I honestly have no idea what it is, but it seems like a blister of sorts. This is an article on Gas Bubble disease, I don't know if it's relavant, but worth having a read and a delve into.

Good luck with your Cory, it's a real beauty!

What about the heater in your tank? Is it possible so hot that if he rubbed against it, it could've made a burn blister?

Just a thought.

I hope he gets better soon. He's really cute.

Good afternoon. He will probably rub against something before long and burst it. Pristine water conditions will help prevent infection if and when it does burst. Too, maybe some Nova Aqua + (whatever you use to add slime coating) especially if it causes an open wound.

Maybe someone will see the thread and it will get diagnosed before the thread gets archived. It would be good to know in case it ever happens again. Take care!

Im so sorry to hear you lost your cory. Could it have been a tumor? Internal parasite?
