Help!! sick silver dollar

I was gone for a week and when I came back I noticed a white film on my silver dollar. The last few days it has spread. Any ideas. Did a water change yesterday. 20%. I dont think it is ICH. Besides the large white patch, there is a general white film on the fish. I did have someone feed my fish while I was gone.

hmmmm check out the above link and see if it's any help to you. Looks and sounds like some type of fungus. Hold on for some more responses.

I've got that on my angel last week. It's not that bad. I've cure mine after 6 days with a multi spectrum medicine but the ingredient that cure the fish from fungus is Malachite Green. You could go around into fish shop and find medicine that specifically cure fungus or ones that contains Malachite Green and just follow the instruction on the bottle. Good luck. Hope I helped.

Hello. I haven't had to deal with this problem personally. You may want to consider a quarantine tank to move the fish to instead of treating the entire tank. You don't want to treat the entire tank if not necessary and risk loosing your cycle.

My Dollar started like that too, but it wasn't a large patch like that! It developed into a white cotton growth, a fungus which I medicated against. Within a couple of days, it came away in a section and the lesion has healed somewhat.
If, and I say IF that is what it may develop into, the sooner to medicate for the fungus, the better judging by the size of the discoloration. In my case, I had to halve the medication because of other residents, and I couldn't separate the Dollars from the rest.

Treated with a triple sulfa and in a couple days the fungus fell off in sheets leaving spots that appear to be healing.
