my molly is sick!!!!

I came home this evening, went to feed the fish, and noticed white spots on my black molly, he also has white covering his one eye and white around the gills, it almost looks like its inside the gills!!. He seems to be gasping and is staying at the bottom of the tank.

I was due to do the water change today so have now done that!!! on suspicion of ICH i have started to raise the temp of the tank slowly.

Does anyone know for sure that this is ICH and of not what could it possibly be

please help!!!

What is the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate of your tank?

Hi shell..im also sorry hes sick
do you know your water readings for ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates? with his eye being bad and the ich, it could be stress from ammonia...are you still using the stress zyme?

depending on your readings, you may need to use another conditioner other than tetra aqua safe..although that works for tap water, you might need something to detoxify the ammonia and nitrites if you have them ...like prime, amquel+ or ammo lock...

I hope he gets better!

Sorry, can't really tell by the pic.

If it's ich, you can slowly raise the temp to 84F increase aeration to make up for less oxygen in the warmer water. Leave it there for 2 weeks. Do thorough gravels vacs to pick up all the ich spores.

It would really be a good idea not to use stress zyme. It's not going to allow your tank to cycle.
Have you been doing daily water changes? If not, it would be a good idea until the tank is cycled.

if you have nitrites, it could be effects of an uncycled tank...the pic is hard to tell..does the white spots look like salt? or just pieces of scales missing? can you get one of the 3 listed conditioners tonight? one of them will keep the fish safe for 24 hours until your next water change...I agree to stop using the stress zyme and just continue with daily 40-50% water changes but you really need one of the detoxifiers...I hope things get better!

No ive not been doing daily changes but will do now for sure, have started to raise the temp slowly already and have more aeration in the tank and gave the gravel a good vac tonight!!

Shawnie, im not able to get any cnditioner tonight as its almost 1am but will def get some tomorrow!!!
The spots do look like salt not missing scales.
and i had the nitrites at 0 before so assumed that the cycle had finished but maybe it wasnt.
