Let's play the game What is it?

Bleeding heart has some uhhhh thingy on its head, Kinda looks like a horn. Only addition since last August has been airstone(which raised pH so airstone only lasted 2-3 weeks, and a live plant which brought snails. I killed the plant anyway, been trying to eradicate snails but dd loves them so trying to do it sneakily.

Sorry rambling water parameters
ph- 8
nitrate 5ppm
nitrite -0
ammonia-0

Tried to take a pic, hard to photo fish, looking at him it really looks like a horn is blackish. Any guesses and how do I get rid of?

Thanks for the response, It looks soft. I am trying to get a better pic to show the height of it. BH is wary of my camera.

ETA It looks like a scale is pushed up by his eye and this is blooming out of it?

He sees me looking at him and swims off.
