Oh just my luck.

I come home from my boyfriends, check up on the tank.
And my favourite guppy has, what appears to be ICH all over her. Her eyes are really puffed up and white around the edges. I've got a few pictures. At the moment she's the only one, but I'm not taking any chances on my others. I've turned up the temperature, and gravel vaccumed and will do for as long as I can. She's been ill for a while, so I guess she's more susceptable.
It came from when I added my DG, another tank had ICH, and I guess it was prevalent in all tanks, just the DG's not shown any signs.

I guess I'll just have to wait it out, and do the best that I can with it.

It seems that your guppy has ICH and Pop eye. This is a very bad combination of diseases and unfortunately your fish will probably die. To treat these two diseases you can go to your LFS and buy some Melafix by API which cures your pop eye and (I think i see a bit of fin rot) and also go buy another API product which I forget the name right now but should be beside the Melafix in the store.

Hope this helps.

I have no idea how all this happened over one night. She's always had her fin like that, she came with it. Apparently I can't use melafix in a tank with a labyrinth fish, it messes up how they breathe from the oxygen.

She's about four years old, so I guess she's had a good life until now the poor thing. I've gravel vacced and the temps at 84F. I'm doing 30% daily water changes.

Let's not jump to conclusions and scare Emily !!

Pop eye isn't a disease in itself, it's a term used to describe the condition of the eye that is the result of some other underlying problem. There could be any number of reasons the eye or eyes are swollen.

here's a link that has some photos and provides several possible causes for the swollen eyes.

hope that helps.

Good advice above. Do your research before reaching for the meds. There are some things that can be treated with temp adjustments, water changes etc. I would use meds as a last resort. Good luck!

UPDATE. Thanks for all the replies. Turns out she must've been very ill. One of my other guppies always knows when a fish is off colour, and, tries to perk it up by nipping it it's scales. *Dispares* She developed fungus on top of the ICH, due to where the scales had been chewed. She was in so, so much pain, she wasn't swimming much, and was resting on the gravel. She had to be euthanised unfortunately, it put her out of her misery at least

Thank you for all the replies guys

I plan on it

And when I woke up this morning, my monster female (She's 3.5 inches) has it all over her. She's totally white apart from the tail, so I guess I just hadn't seen it. . I'll be gravel vaccing twice a day now.
