Hi everyone,
I'm new on here and I was wondering if anyone can help me identify what's going on with some of my
goldfish.
I have a pond and 4 of my goldfish have a black lump on their front left flank (not on the gill), about the size of a pea. The largest fish has more than just a lump - it looks as though dark fibres are protruding from the lump, almost like it's growing a new fin! It makes me think there might be a parasite burrowing in...
I've noticed this particular fish, which is about 7 years old, occasionally flashes about, twitches and gulps quite a bit, although the other ones don't seem to do this. I'm tempted to get it out and take the tweezers to whatever it is, although upon reflection this would probably do more harm than good!
Any heads-up on what it might be and what I can do about it would be most appreciated. Interestingly, none of the Koi appear to have anything similar on them.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Blakey.
