My tiger barb is swimming at top of tank ...

All my other fish are perfectly fine. The tiger at the top is eating. Cant/wont swim back down to usual level. Interacting fine with other fish.
Swimming back and forth, gioes to middle then swims back up. I have had him for about 2-3 years. Fairly large 2-3 inches.
I just did a water change 25% 3 days ago. Tested water everything is OK.
I have a fluval 205 only a month old . Tank running for about a year.

hi and welcome to fishore

can you post the exact readings from your tests? is there anything physically wrong with him at all that you can see on his body? does it look like he is gasping at all? are his gills red or inflamed?

welcome to fishlore!!
when you got the new filter, did you save the old media or put new media in there ?

whenever something isnt normal per say, a nice water change with some stress coat + or prime doesnt hurt ...

response

I dont have exact readings ... I did test sunday when he started showing signs.

The new filter was started when the old filter was still running. Old filter ran for about a month maybe more.

No apparent physical signs. Fish looks normal.

Have you changed to different type of flakes food recently? Is it just one out of how many or all the TB?

Flake food is the same. Just one TB. All other fish (9 in total ) are OK

2-3 yrs old TB, I must say, you done well! Pad yourself on the shoulders. I mean it!

If only one fish, would not jeopardize the rest by doing something to tank. I would rather monitor water conditions/observe for more definite symtoms before deciding to Q/T and med.
You have not posted pH, ammonia (NH3), nitrite (NO2), nitrate (NO3) yet!!!
It could be helpful for everyone including TB!
Barbs tend to handle wider range of pH than Tetras/Rasboras, actually did better in slightly higher pH (7.2- 7.4) than specified (aslightly acidic) in long run. I guess this in one of very rare case that human intervention/alteration is better than what evolutions have achieved, lol!.
Hope it is not anything serious!
