Is this normal?

I have a 10 gallon with a breeding pair of albino bristlenose catfish. I was cleaning the tank and I just noticed this. Click the image to open in full size. It's the red section of his fin. Did he bruise it or something? There are babies in the tank with them at the moment. They are not at the size in which I'd move them to another tank (less than a centimeter).

no ammonium or nitrites. 20 nitrates. If you need the pH i can give it to you once the test tubes dry out. I broke the fourth tube.

hmm are they new to you? because ph would probably only play a part if they were just recently added and arent use to a different ph.....maybe butterfly will see this thread and be able to help more...she breeds them

Well, I don't know. Probably you would see the blood slowly rise out.

it's certainly possible. it looks more like an injury than anything else. have you noticed if he's been favoring that side or using those fins?
