Treating Swollen Gill

Our High-finned platy, who has been moody, and I've posted about a couple of times on here seems to have a swollen gill.

This may explain her moodiness and lessened activity.

I examined the gill closely today and it's not pink, I also didn't see anything attached to or coming out of it. It's just round instead of flat. You can't see it from the side, but if you look at her from underneath you can see one is uniform with the flow of her body and the other is very rounded and potrudes.

I would be inclined to think it's gill flukes, but I've read that gill flukes also cause redness and are visible. I appreciate all advice and suggestions. We may finally be getting to the bottom of this. You can see our water parameters in our profile.

I would definitely suspect some type of gill disease. I would quarantine the fish, until you can get more info.

Most gill diseases, fungus and parasites cause swelling AND redness. It may be you caught it early, but it's definitely not normal for the gill(s) to be swollen.

Does she appear to be breathing hard, the gill(s) moving rapidly, bumping against objects ?

thanks for the reply!

No hard breathing, she just acts really laid back, not really interested in food. (she'll nibble a bit) Hangs out in a corner some. When she swims her fins are out, not clamped. But as the days go by she's been spending more time sitting in her corner. I was thinking it also might be internal hexamita, but that wouldn't explain the gill. Unless it's two things...
