Possible Ich?

Hello!

Did my usual check this morning, everything was fine. Did a check in the evening, my guppy developed white spots on the fins and body, attached is a picture.

I'm thinking it's ICH...I started raising the temperature. Any medication you would recommended in particular? LFS tomorrow!

Thanks for all the help!

hard to tell from the pic...salt like spots are ich as im sure you know...but it could be some banging off deco ...raising the temps if its ich, should do the trick...83 for two weeks with some extra airation and gravel vacs would do it...dont use meds unless you absolutely have too..and if you have a QT tank that would be better as meds will destroy your cycle

Thanks for the reply! I'll set up my spare 20G as a qt tank tomorrow. Attached are two more pictures to see if it'll help identify the problem.

Looks like grains of salt on the body, and little white spots on the tail.
The white spots LED me to believe it's Ich, was going to start medicating, but I might just raise temperature and add some salt. Any idea of the chances of sitting this out without medication or qt tank?
Tank is a fully cycled 20G with 2 guppies, 2 platies and a pleco.

usually the two weeks with higher temps will do it...did you catch it early or do all the fishies have it on them? is it a common plec? and are the water parimeters ok? trying to figure out why they have ich would help eliviate it in the future ...

You can do as Shawnie suggested, raising the temp for 2 weeks, increase aeration and do a good vacuum. It should get rid of the ich with out meds.

Good luck.

I caught it early, only the female guppy has it.
The water parameters are ok, I do a 25% water change every 3 days and vacuum, I've recently thrown the tank into a mini cycle when I changed the filter on my Whisper 20...Baaddddddddd thing to do. That might be the cause? Nitrates and Nitrites at 0 now though.
It is a common pleco, it will go into my 65G as soon as it 1) grows a little or 2) I get my rear to LFS to get a cory of some sort :P

thanks for the help!

yes probably the mini cycle threw them into a state of stress...you are doing all the right things tho and id let time take care of it...the plec may not be big but his bio load is...which will throw the ammonia outta wack alot of the times...id move the plec and just leave the others... a plec wont handle salt if you decide to use that goodluck!
