Sick fishes

Hi,

I have a male Molly which has 3 ulcers under his chin. I have quarantined him.
He is not eating. I have added some salt, Tetracycline and Triple Sulfa to his QT but so far there is no improvement.

What should I do?

I have 2 Black Widow Tetra which have remained small for months now although their peers have grown bigger. Is something wrong?

Has anyone tried injecting their fish with medication?
If you have the experience, can you tell me how.
I read that injecting medication is more effective.

Thanks.

Ya, Have done it on much larger fish (Queen Trigger) with great result on internal bleeding. This goes back some 15 years.
I got an idea from a book " Textbook of Fish Health by George Post". this book has information on dosage/body weight. I did rough calculation on what the dosage will be.
I guess I was lucky.
I had commented and replied on many threads, I have not gave any recommendations as to proper Med eventhough have great deal of info on diseases and Med. I know for fact that people describes in many different way on a same disease.
This is through many years of experiences in fish retail industries and as a devoted hobbyist. That is a primary reason why doctor do/should not prescribe med over the phone according to self-diagnosis.
Ulcer:
As you probably know, Most of infections can be healed with better results through oral intake rather than medicating husbandaries provided that their husbandaries (tank, water) are kept in at optimal conditions.
I think you chose the correct Med but since TC has been used for longer period of time, might be better of with its derivative called OxyTC (Terramyacin). I would try one Med rather than making soup w/ different Meds at the same time. Who know what kinds of chemical reactions might takes place producing some substances which may be unhealthy for fish.
Always take cautious steps with all the equipments that you use. Disinfect nets, etc, after each use w/ simple hot water, just like syringes were boiled after each use in medical fields before the disposables were available.
I hope fish gets better soon.
Remember, patience, profound reasoning and good water quality is the key to success.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the replies.

I still cannot get a clear picture.

I change the water in his QT every day.

I will look for Terramyacin.

Thanks again.

Maracyn2 seems to be very effective as well... you may also try medicated antibacterial food from jungle labs which is sometimes better with bacteria that cannot be attacked from the outside.

Can use Maracyn II since their ingredient, Minocycline, is another derivative of TC.
