Hey everyone,
I recently lost my goldfish, Dwight, to an ick infestation mixed with dropsy. At the first sign of the white spots on Dwight, I removed all the other fish in the tank and put them in an extra one that I had sitting around so that they wouldn't get infected and wouldn't bother Dwight. Dwight has been gone since Friday, and I have left his original tank exactly as it was when he died.

My question is: when will it be safe to put the other fish back into the tank? I've been watching them for the past few days, and they haven't been acting strange or showing any signs of ick. I know the life cycle of ICH takes a few days to a week (i think..), so if it goes without hosts for a few days, will it die out?

I also treated the tank with Jungle Ick Guard, so that should help with killing it, right?

id do a nice vacuum of the subtrate and turn up the temp to 83 for a week or so..but make sure you are putting some fish food in twice a day to feed the bacteria and you dont loose your cycle...although id test the water parimeters because most meds will kill the beneficial bacteria...goodluck!

Most meds will kill the bacteria? Thats something they don't tell us on the bottle...
