Neon tetra not well

Well, I have been noticing the past couple days that one of my neons (and now just recently another one) has a loss of color, very gray, bulging eyes, and dosent swim unless I feed them. Do you guys think this is neon tetra disease? if it is what should I do? thanks

NTD symptoms can also look like a few other diseases or problems.
If it is, it's very contagious and you should quarantine them as soon as possible.

The only tank that I could set up is a little 5 gallon tank with a horrible heater and no filter, unless I take one from my 20 gallon tank. Do you think I should do that or what else could I do? thanks

Do you have an extra one in the 20g? Would the 20g still be heated properly?
I'm afraid it you don't put them in QT the others will get ill.

I do have an extra cycled filter in the 20 gallon tank. The heater I use in the tank really sucks and I never use it. It heats the water up to 82-84F when it is set as low as it can go, which is around 68. The smaller heater dosent even heat the water, its ridiculus.

I have another question, will my black phantoms and cories get sick from this? thanks!

If it's NTD other fish can get it. I can't remember at the moment which ones are more susceptible. I'm pretty sure the other tetras would be at risk.
One of the symptoms of NTD beside the loss of color is swimming erratically and not schooling with the other neons.
I don't think bloat or bulging eyes is a symptom.

Even if it's not NTD there's something wrong with them and the ones showing symptoms of illness should be quarantined.

My 5 neons don't school either, but they seem healthy... they don't have any other strange thing going on except that they don't school. Why could that be? I've noticed 2 of them fight with each other every now and again - could it be 2 males who just don't like each other?

As long as they appear healthy, I wouldn't worry about them not schooling.

When neons are relaxed the school breaks up some...as long as they can see each other and in times of danger( so they think ) they will school then.

My Cardinals, like Neons, school because they're in with big fish, Discus. They feel protected in bigger numbers. There are times they loosen up the group and divide or wander, but when the Discus are moving the Cardinals form a fairly close group.

Well, I found him/her pretty much non-existant at the top of the tank this morning, it wasn't dead yet but it looked really bad. So I just euthanized it this morning. Thanks for the help though.
