Hi i've a lovely red spotted severum but it has a whitish blob on its fins does any one have any ideas what it could be?
I should say that he and my oscar do push each other round quite a bit!

Hello Bex and welcome to fishlore
Do you think that its a possible fungus on your Severum or that it was in a fight with the Oscar? Either way I would make sure the water is clean and add some fish protector to the water. Do you have any photos of it or can you describe it further?

Hi iv,e tried to take some pic but the white patch doesn't show think it must be fungus its been like it for about a week and hasn't changed the severum and oscar had white spot a couple of weeks ago might have something to do with that!
I have only had the oscar for a couple of months there still trying to sort out hows in charge seems to be the sevvey.I have done water changes frequently and water tested this morning the tests come out just right!

It does sound like body fungus. Have you used any meds to treat it yet and to keep it from spreading worse?

I also moved your thread from the American Cichlid Photos section to a more appropriate place where you may get more replies.

I do not know what types of meds are available in the UK. But if you look for a product that treats 'body fungus' you should be good to go.

Do you really have:



in a 120L (30 gal) tank? I'm afraid that tank is not big enough for the Severum all by himself. What are your water readings?

All my water reading are perfect my oscar and severum are still very young and obviously not fully grown!

As the fish get bigger i will be up grading to a 6 foot tank!
