The back of the boxes say 1 tablet for every 10 gallons of water. If the tank is only 2.5 gallons, can the tablet be broken into quarters, or is this not advisable?

There was a thread a long time ago about figuring out how to medicate a smaller tank.

That may or may not work... I work at a pharmacy, and some tablet type medications may not be mixed very well overall. So if you break them up, most of the medication may have all been in the half or quarter that you didnt use, or vise versa.

The safest and most effective way would be to dissolve the tab in 10 gallons of water (like in a large container) and then use that water to fill up your tank =)

(Obviously you would need to drain the 2.5g completely to achieve this)

Instead of using teaspoons, couldn't she disolve the tablet in 1 cup of treated water and then just add 1/4 cup to her tank? In this case, since we know it is a 2.5 gallon tank, that would work right?
