My blue guppy about 5 mths ago started to get fin rot or his tail split. We started using medicine and It never got fully better. He swam fine and lookes healthy except for his tale. Maybe, 1 week ago I found that he looked rounder than usual and that his tail wan getting worse. !!! A few days ago his dorsal fin looked split and one of the side fins was getting worse. Last night I found him dead in my plants. When we got him out his tale was really short. He was a fancy guppy. What should I do?

When you treated him did you treat him in the main tank or a QT tank ? it looks like his tail never recovered and possibly caused his death.

Do you have other fish in the same tank? if so are they are OK?

Yes, I have two of the same guppies but they are yellow. I trated him in the main tank not in QT. I spent almost 100 bucks giving them the meds. He looked almost better but still a little split. He swam fine he ate good and looked very healthy exceptp his tale.

He was really not my favorite but Thank you for that apolgy. Nowone of my balck skirted tetra's looks like it has two slits

He was probably overwhelmed by the infection, guppys, just like other small fish cannot fight off massive infections very well... they eventually just die from organ failure. Keep an eye on the other fish for any signs of infection for the next few weeks, they will most likely be fine though, infections usually only attack stressed or injured fish.

Edit : I would check all your water parameters.. ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Since you treated the tank with meds, you most likely killed your good bacteria and will be in a mini cycle. This added stress can cause the other fish to be more likely to get the same infection.
