Dark spots under mouth on cichlid?

Two of my cichlids have developed splotchy blackish spots on their "chins" under their mouths.

Anyone know what it is or how to treat it?

Black could be an indication that the fish has suffered a chemical burn, and this burn is now healing. It would definitely be a good idea to check the water parameters and if you can add Garlic Guard, Fish Protector and/or Vita-Chem those will help with healing.

Several of mine developed the blackish spots too... on their lips/chins/sides. I don't think it is anything to worry about... they had them for most of the year that I kept them, and still have them now at their new home.
