I put a message out for someone else to look at this thread.
What comes to mind is Whirling disease which is caused by a parasite.

Sorry you lost him...good luck with the rest...I would look into returning the sharks and maybe getting a few guppies or mollies or such.

That's great! I'm so glad you're going to look at larger tanks and so what's right for your fish.
Not everyone is into the smaller fish are sharks are pretty cool.
Please read the link about the nitrogen cycle that I gave you in an earlier post. It'll help you understand what happens during the cycling of a tank and help you enjoy this wonderful hobby more.

Good luck.

Its a tough situation. Sometimes you want to scoop them out and put them in a "fresh tank", sometimes you want to do a water change right then....both of which could harm the fish more, depending on the situation. Sometimes it helps. A lot of times once a fish crosses a certain line theres no coming back. Sorry for your loss.

Could be a lot of things. Could be that you had a sick fish to start (not visable) and the signs just finally started to show. You never really know.

FYI & BTW the fish was a Malawi, Nimbochromis species...most likely the venustus or the polystigma.

They aren't very nice fishies and get 10.5" big.
