This is related to my question: "Mini cycle near end?" in freshwater beginners.

Our large male Red Fin looks like it was attacked and the fins are tattered but not really bad. The ends of the fins have lost color too. Also, just the right eye is cloudy. The LFS said it all may clear up with the better water conditions. If it doesn't in a couple days to get some melafix and treat with that until better. i did read up on the cloudy eye and rapid breathing he is doing and it looks like the melafix will work.

Any other help or advice is appreciated.

Garlic Guard, Vita-Chem & Fish Protector daily after a daily 50% water change until you start the melafix

I'd treat him for eye cloud or fin rot...they Melafix may help but get something else as a back up. Lots of water changes will help too.

Thanks. Checked him today and his eye looks better after a couple days in our 20Gal which was fully cycled. His fins still look pretty bad though. Going to go to the fish store and see if they have the above.

Just using melafix right now. LFS said it was looking like hes being attacked and I think it's the Lab.
