I just made a conclusion...even if these fish were in QT even for a month. They didn't show signs of having a parasite until months later. I know this parasite is rare but geeze! It make you want to stop buying store bought fish all together.

Allie that it some disease to get rid of and sorry for your losses here. Did you ever try Metronidazole?

I had to use it one time on Discus and that did a fine job(lost 3,but saved 6) but it was very tough to find. Only place to find it was online and quite EXPENSIVE. It was somewhere in the $60 range for 3 and half ounces.

Thanks, it's been a rough ride.
No we didn't try it in the liquid form. But the Jungle Labs medicated parasite food had that, I believe & praziquantel & levimisol, which isn't available in Canada. The problem with the food is, the fish won't eat it.

My male angelfish is very odd. His pooper is swollen with one worm hanging out and has been this way for MONTHS, the female seems fine.
But every cichlid and our wide bar datnoid has died from the dread worms.
So I expect them both to die if they continue not to eat the medicated food.

To bad too as the food does work. Have you tried feeding only it to them and nothing else?? Or are they just not eating anything??

I have tried starving them for a few days then feeding them the med food, but nope. They are spoiled fishies.
They are eating everything BUT the medicated food.

Might want to try crushing the food a little. It's really sad that don't carry meds for this, going through the same thing and I had a hard time even finding the food. Seems to be working for my swordtails but my oscars don't like to eat it.

I do crush it, even mush it up in blood worm juice. They won't eat without actually worms in with it. I am thinking on ordering Entice, the additive use for fussy eaters.
I am too the point where it's been so long with my male angelfish, he may have to be euthanize. But he looks fine besides the thread hanging out his butt. My female has not show any signs of having an infestation, yet.
It's really tough call. Do I kill them or take care of them until they get really sick? I am mostly like going to take care of them until they die...unless another cross contamination happens.
I have been really careful not to forget to disinfect everything that goes in the angel tank. And not to go in their tank very much.

Allie, how's it going. I hope it's not to late, try rubbing some garlic onto the food or even some paprika. Well my 3 sick Angels are gone. I tried everything, even as far as epson salts bath(everyday for about a week and no poop at all) and that's when I noticed looking down into the 5 gallon bucket that they looked a bit deformed, shaped like the letter S, which leads me to believe they had swim bladder disease.

Nope, the male angelfish is still kicking...but his anus is really swollen with worms still coming out. Female still looks unaffected.
