is this normal???

hi guys!!!
just wanted to know if someone think that black fish's poo is normal?
most (if not all) of my fishes are pooing black now which is kinda odd because they didn't before. now it is black and stringy. is this bad? could it be parasites?

thanks for all the help!

I dont know about parasites but...have you changed there food lately? and sometimes when I forget to feed my fish(oops) the fish just eat the algae and plants in the tank and there poo is dark green which sometimes appears black.

Hi Eve: is there any change in behaviour you can detect besides the black poo? I wonder, because at least in mammals it could mean blood in the GI system, or an overdose of Iron or who knows -maybe a vet does.
Same as Austin, I wonder about any newly introduced fishfood (yesterday I purchased mini shrimp pellets that came damaged, rotted, and plan to take it back to the LFS on Monday).
Have you introduced plants or provided Veggies or Spyrulina based food?

PS Apple Snails poo is black!

Parasites could be a possibility, but then you'd usually be looking at white/clear poo so I'd examine their diet to see if that's the cause of the change.

they've been eating the same thing since i first got them and the black poo is new. also i always remember to feed them. usually i feed them once a day but sometimes i feed them twice.
one tiger barb looks very very sick now. i think he's dying. all the other fish are fine though. this tiger barbs has been doing bad for a couple of weeks now and i have no idea what's wrong with him. now he looks very thin and deformed and he doesn't wanna eat and he barely moves. i treated my tank with parasite clear tablets but there is not helping this tiger barb.

anyone knows what else could be wrong with this little guy?

What is their usual food?

He may have worms and need a stronger de-worming med in a hospital tank. Can you get a med called "Prazi Pro"? Also adding garlic to the tank, like with Garlic Guard may help some.
