looking at some of my plants one of them has had a leaf sucked (to shall i say a shell? ) of all its colour, its not a true red plant it is redish green, low growing in the bottom of tank ( crypt) large roots for not a lot of leaf, long leaf for its width

could it have sucked the red from the leafs and not digested it??

(can i feed it unharmfull blue stuff? or orange suff??) silly idea i know but trying to make a bad thing good

It sounds like it could've been that he ate some of that plant. What is the current ammonia reading on the tank?

hes adorable and not sure about his coloring issue..but I do know that any ammonia reading is lethal...

Id do an immediate water change of at least 50% and treat the tap water with some conditioner..most of us use prime...

I hope he does ok!

Yea, I'd do daily water changes, testing before each change, to get the ammonia down. It most likely is what he ate, but they're sensitive to ammonia, so that might be a factor.

Looks like ammonia poisoning. The areas around the mouth and around the gills in lighter colored fish will show red first. The water change advice given is right on the money. when was the last water change done and how much was changed? What other fish are in the tank with him . sorry for all teh questions )

It's a toss up between the ammonia and the salt. Bristlenose DO NOT like salt. Do you have something else you could put him in?
