Hi people again, im posting a close up pic of my loach trying to treat with protozin meds my 6th day now but it just isnt going away, my bala sharks and fighter are better. I have turned up the temp, what else can i do to save these guys before i take back to the shop as they say they wont take back an infected fish. Thank you.
Oh forgot to add that the fins are looking very raggedy like as if they are rotting away ? Last edited by tko187; June 13th, 2008 at 03:55 PM.

| How high is the temp? It should be above 87'F for ten days. I also add salt to treat ick. |

| I would warn against salt. raising the temp is enough to kill it, no need to ruin your water paramaters as well. |

| Also, the Clowns won't tolerate salt very well... |

| Raise the temp above 82F for 14 days do frequent water changes(warm water holds less oxygen) and gravel vacuums(vacs up dead ICH cyst). Since it looks like they have it bad, at the end of 14 days if you see any spots continue with this regimen for another five days. There are very few meds loaches of any kind can handle. This will work.

| If you can find a product called "Ich Attack", I would add that to the tank in addition to Butterfly's advice. It's an herbal, organic product and safe for the fish. It's not needed to clear up the ich, but does help the fish to feel better. |

| yes raise the temp as prescribed. i had an ich attack three months ago, raised the temp for a couple weeks and have not had ich in my tank since. very effective cure. just remember to keep the temp at 82 for the full two weeks. the ich will dissapear after a week but you will still need the temp at 82 to kill and prevent new infestation. |

| Have turned up the temp about a week ago, the betta i had has cleared, my two bala sharks cleared and 1 of my loaches still have a little but the other one is looking really bad, the fins are really rotting and its sitting right at the bottom and breathing really fast, i put the net in to see if it responds but was just lying there, i thinks its on its way.......i hope not i was gonna give it back once it was better as i still have the receipt , i just hope he can battle on but its not looking good!! My wife was on the option of taking it out its misery but i couldnt do it and didnt let her either. What should i do? |

| Continue the warmer temperatures and frequent water changes. Your tank profile says the tank is two weeks old. Could you tell us what your water test( ammonia, nitrites and Nitrates) readings are please. If the tank isn't cycled that could be part of whats going on with the fins.

| yes ammonia is 0, p.h is 7.2, nitrate is between 5 - 10, and the nitrite is between 0 and 0.25, i dont know why it has crept up again, i have just added a new dose of live bacteria. Also when i woke up this morning Freddie Roach was dead. R.i.p. **** its so frustrating, ive put the betta in its own tank also. |
