Carbon removed for ich meds???????

Hi guys i have removed my carbon as per instructed and added my first dose of meds for ICH, just wondering what i should do with the carbon sponge, i have just placed it in some of its own tank water, is this right Do i keep this or just buy a new one when the medication is done Thanks.

I would turf it and buy a new one for after you have ran your med cycle. And me personally I only use it for a day after a med cycle and turf it, as I don't run carbon in any of my filters.

so what exactly is the carbon filters purpose? And why dont you use it?

Oh love your tank by the way, do i need to do anything to make plant growth better. Waht is substrate!!

Carbon is really good at taking out everything, chemicals, nitrogen wastes, things like that from the water. Most people have given up using it because it has this annoying habit of dumping everything it has taken outta the water back in all at once when it reaches it saturation point. It usually takes ne where between a couple of days to a week to reach that point then you have a massive waste spike which isnt good for the fish. Its just easier to not use it.

I use carbon in my overstocked tank...and I change mine once every 3 weeks...and my readings have been perfecto...theres been so many threads on carbon that you just got to figure what works for you I guess...

What are you using? All that you need to treat ich is water above 82F for 2 weeks and daily water changes and frequent cleaning.
