Ugh, I lost another neon

I lost 1 last week.

I don't get it, he looked fine all day.
Last night I went to feed them, he looked pale and was swimming erratically.
He was dead by this morning.
I have 2 neons left and 4 serpae.

If this is NTD, can it spread to the serpaes too?
If so, I'll put the remaining 2 neons in a q tank.

Last water change was Tuesday, yesterday water tested at 0,0,5.

I'm sorry Lucy....I know how hard it is when you lose one and have no clue as to what happened...

Im really sorry you lost your neon like martinismomy said its specially harder when you have no clue what happened.

Im getting scared to get neons... they are really pretty but it seems that they die in the hands of experienced fishkeepers and also newbies.... with no apparent reason.

Neons, like Cardinal tetras are very sensitive to the tank conditions. Even with proper acclimation... they still are very fragile. Dont beat yourself up over it Lucy, it may very well be nothing you did wrong.. its just the nature of these fish.

Cheer up.. Lucy. It happens.
Well. I lost 5 neon out of 20. Within 1 week. After the first 2 days I found that the 2 angels are the guilty ones. Also killed 2 Golden Barb, 1 Red Platy.
Soo.. removed them. Next day others are ok but 1 neon died. Following day another and another. Finally I manage to catch the guilty. Its my 2 Serpae (been removed) Now everybody in there can leave in peace. Guess neons are not as agile as the other tetras. I have no choice but to removed those which is harmfull to the others.. for safety of the community.
Oh.. Mine is a 50Gallon Community Tank.. Still learning too.

Don't feel bad. I think that CWC and Dino have said that the biggest problem likely has less to do with aquarium water quality (though this can kill them as well) and more to do with problems with the breeding/shipping methods. I've seen three regular neons die in a tank while three black neons thrived in the same tank (all six were introduced to a fully cycled tank at the same time. There was never a hint of ammonia or nitrite in the water)

Thanks everyone. Poor things, I don't know what happened, I had them for 6 months. The only thing that waivered were thew nitrates between 5-10.
I hope my last 2 survive, they look good but so did the other ones, just poof got pale and died within a day.
