Fish going belly up!

I have had my 75 Gallon Hex tank set up for about 2 years with little problem. All of a sudden over the past week most all of my fish have died. They seem to die suddenly and their fins seem to have be mising or tatered. This is really frustrating since I have had the fish for so long and even had fry in a tank net. Any solutions would be great. I am seriuosly thinking about just giving up. Any help would be appreciated. Should I completely dismantle the tank and clean out with what? and start over?

I wouldnt take it down...but I would test all the water parimeters...ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are a great place to start...can you get those readings? I hope your fish get better!

Welcome back to Fishlore!
I wouldn't tear it down and clean it unless all other options have been explored. This usually causes as many problems as it solves.
I second the question about the water parameters. We can work from there.

I just read that fish can develop fungus or parasites that are contagious i would get a book on diagnosing desease like the one i have called
"fresh water aquarioums for dummies" it is a good one and is helping me alot. I'm no dummy but i needed this book.
good luck.
If you noticed that your fish had whitish salt or flake looking spots on their bodies . like tinny bubbles it might have beed what i told you. the solution to this was to go to the petstore and get a liquid that you put in your tank.
