A week ago I noticed my extra male keyhole was looking odd. I got a better look at him and his anal area was red, puffy and looked like something was eating away at it.
I caught him and put him in the sick tank. Cranked the heat on Friday to 86*. An hour later stringy, red wormy looking things were coming out of the area. Yucky!!

It bled too, but not very long. I figured it was b/c the parasites were dying from the high temp. The fish was light colored and I was worried. The keyhole looked BAAD.

But he was acting normal, even more friendly. *he knew I was helping him, I think*
This morning his color is back to normal and the redness is gone. He is pooping but it's white stringy stuff. The anal area is still yucky looking but not red like it was. He looks so much better.
I still have him the high temps, getting meds later. I hope the little fella makes it, and it doesn't take too long to heal him up.
How does a fish get this sick in a tank which I keep very clean and a close eye on?

All my other fish are fine. Another aquarium mystery I guess.
