Sick Platy HELP!

I have a platy, and i don't know if i'm overreacting or not..
but he seems to be sitting on the bottom of the tank and breathing heavy.

I dont know what to do, what to give him, or whats wrong with him.

All my other fish are okay, and look well.

I'll get some pictures or maybe a video, but can someone help me?
Is there any chance that he'll live?

poor thing..do you have another tank or something to put him/her in? and treat with vita-chem and maybe some garlic? Hope the platy survives!

Hey Tara, once your water parameters read ok, then you perhaps need to consider adding a plant or two to break up line-of-sight for duelling males and provide more hiding options for whichever of your males is being picked on.. remember once a female of any species is present, the aggression between males increases, even if you have a 3:1 female to male ratio, which is supposed to be the ideal mix.. there's always one male who'll want all the females even if he can't handle them all, and will chase all other males to the point of exhaustion.

I had that happen to my platy also. She just sat on the bottom but would swim up a feeding time but it looked like it took alot of effort for her to swim and be afloat. Somebody recommended frozen peas - they didn't work but fish enjoyed the snack. What cured my fish is dropping one frozen cube of bloodworms in once a day as a substitute for dry food. My fish guy said she was probably constipated and a dry flake food only diet isn't that great. It took a couple of weeks but she's totally back to normal. I continue to feed good quality frozen bloodworms once a day to whole tank and everyone is very happy and healthy. Good luck - hope this helps

thanks for all your suggestions.

As for another tank to put him in, i only have a small betta tank.
There's no betta in there, but would that be too small?
Heres a picture of it.

That could certainly work as a quarantine tank for a sick platty.. if you add an ornament of some kind to add some kind of comfort for the sick fish along with an air supply, you're good to go.. try not to add gravel or sand, since it'll be easier to monitor his pooping without a substrate in the tank ( I know, it sounds weird but if he's constipated and you cure that, you'll want to know sooner than later).

what kind of air supply do you mean?
I don't have a filter or anything.
What about an air stone?

I'm running down to the pet shop now to get another airstone and some plant for him.
Will he be okay in there without an airstone for about half an hour?

As long as you have an air-hose down in the water until you can put on the air-stone, you're good to go.. sponge filters are recommended for quarantine tanks as well.. and make sure your air-pump is at a higher level than the tank to avoid water getting into it ( electrical short-outs, fires etc.), if you can't place your air-pump higher than the tank, then buy a check-valve, which won't run you much more than an air-stone.

Tigger past away about an hour after the last post.
He was a cute, good little fish.

I miss him very much.

I'm so sorry that you lost the little guy. Those platys sure are lovable and I miss ours. I know you did all that you could for little Tigger.
