angel fish with big belly!

at work we have a few angle fish in a 75 gal tank. one of the angel fish has a very big belly and it is swimming upside down. everybody tells me it is going to have babies....could this be ture or is the fish sick? our avtivity director does not clean the tank nor feed the fish. the night shift does all the work and we are tring to get the director of nurses to get rid of the tank before they die from neglect.

I think it sounds like a swim bladder problem too. It could be due to water conditions, which sound bad. The tank would need big water changes daily for a little bit and maybe some garlic guard and vita-chem would help the angel recover.

is there a cheaper way to help this fish get well?? the treatment cost $44.00 on line and i know Wal Mart will not have anything good to treat this fish. I'm going to work tonight to take the fish home with me and try to save it. i hope i can help it.....it looks pittifull.

really clean warm water, like 80 degrees. do water changes every day. and you'll want really want the meds. That price is for a big bottle that can treat multiple fish, and both of those can help with basically every problem. See if your co workers will chip in.

if i took the angle fish home and used melafix in a small tank with the angle by its self...do you think it would get well or is it too late to safe the poor thing?? right now it is just sitting on the botton of the tank on it's head. There is another angle fish and a silver dollar with smaller belly bulge. i would like to savee these fish if i can by stealing them and putting them in my home takn....there they will be cared for..... audrey
