BIG white spot

I'm new to this forum and need help with my fish. I have Jack Dempsey that is pretty old. I've had him for five years now. I've attached a picture of what looks to me like a self injury but I would like for you all to take a look just in case I'm missing something. The odd thing about what looks to be an injury is that he has it on both sides. No other fish in tank have the same problem.

Thanks for your help!

hi jls...welcome to fishlore!! your jack looks like a jeanette..and her injury looks self inflicted...is there something in the tank she could have hit it on?? I know my JD's are skittish and go nuts if u walk by and they dont see you coming...

I'm glad you agree with me :-) I think it's from our log. She definitely is skiddish when we approach unless she knows we are giving her food!

Welcome to Fishlore.

Fish Protector, Vita-Chem and Garlic Guard could all be helpful to her healing faster, but it doesn't look like something that she'd need meds for. Those products would be good for her on a regular basis too.
