More Cory Sickness

I have two corys in my 10g tank. I have been treating them with maracyn and maracyn 2 because one of them looked like he had finrot, even though my water was at 0 ammonia and nitrite and about 5 nitrate, temperature at 80 degrees.

After 3 days of treatment my tank was extremely cloudy (so much so that i couldn't see the back of the tank through the front.) Every time Spot came close to one of the sides I could see that it looked like he was getting worse and worse, first the flesh between the spines on his dorsal fin was gone, next it looked like part of his back where the fin attached was looking un-good. Then the whole area was really fuzzy.

Today I have been treating for 4 days and today would be treatment 5, but I couldn't stand looking at the tank looking that bad any more so i did a major water change hoping that would clear it up.

prior to the water change, i tested the water: .25 ammonia, 0 nitrite, and 0 nitrate (i know this should not be so i tested it twice just to be sure) and temp at 77 degrees.

Now that i can see my fish, Tiny is looking fine, But Spot is looking even worse, his dorsal fin is totally gone, and he has a good sized chunk missing from his back.

also, i'm not sure either one of them has eaten anything in the last day or so. the water has been so cloudy that i can't tell. i have cut way back on the amount going into the tank and what i have been putting in seems to remain untouched.

i know this is long, but help please. thank you.

Is Tiny acting agressive to spot?

I would do daily 50% water changes to get rid of ammonia, probably the meds killed the bacteria so you have a mini cycle.

I would keep the water crystal clear around 80 degrees and add garlicguard, if not garlic then some sort of natural remidy.

No, Tiny is not being aggressive at all. I did do a water change just after those readings were taken. I agree, there is probably a mini cycle happening after the meds. I just got some Rid-Fungus today and will be adding that as well as starting Triple-Sulfa as he is looking sooo bad. I will also be adding some prime to help deal with any ammonia that pops up. Any other thoughts on how to help him be more comfortable would be welcome =)

If you can find this: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...2&pcatid=12102 it may help Spot out when applied to his wound. Hopefully the meds will start helping him from the inside.

Thanks I'll have to see if I can procure some of that for the future. She seems to be doing better with the Rid-Fungus, Triple Sulfa, Prime, treatment. It even looks like she is growing back that area that lost so much, so hoping she will continue to heal. I think I will do a double course of the Triple Sulfa just to make sure we get it all taken care of before letting it go.

Great, I'm glad to hear that she's healing up.
